The interview of  "Azadinform" News Agency reporter Ramil Gasimzade with the president of the Azerbaijan-Japan Friendship Association (AJFA) Rahman Shahhuseynli, on AJFA's celebrated event of the 31st December the day of  Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis:
28 December 2002

(The summary of the interview has been published in the "Iki Sahil" newspaper, 3 January 2003, under the part of "Nebz" as "The  Day of Solidarity was celebrated in Japan, too" http://www.ikisahil.com/2003/01/03/ )

1. Rahman, isn't it difficult to live far from the homeland, as far as in Japan?

— Ramil, firstly, I extend my deep gratitude to you and and all the members of media, for the care and attention paid us. In the beginning, I would like to congratulate all the Azerbaijani people on the Day of Solidarity of Word Azerbaijanis and the coming New Year's Day; I wish my people unity and solidarity, smooth life; I aslo wish my country a happy future.

Surely, Ramil, living far from onefs home country is not that easy. To achieve our goals successfully while living far from the family, friends, acquaintances c the social factors which everybody needs, requires very much forbearance, strong will, and patience. Another issue is that, no matter how smoothly we live here, it should be stated with a regret that we are physically absent from an honored activities—undertaking the countryfs burden together with its people in homeland. Naturally. nothing else can replace these feelings. In addition, if we take into account that Japan is a country with different and unique culture and life style, and  number of the Azerbaijanis living here is very few, then the picture becomes more clear that how hard it is to live in Japan from sociological  and psychological point of views.

2. What kind of activities do you do in order to promote Azerbaijan and what are you planning to do in the future for this end?

— Though this question sounds simple it has a deep understanding and importance. This is the question that should be asked not only the Azeris living abroad or inside the country; each Azerbaijani should ask this to himself or herself, his/her family members, relatives, and friends, and he or she should evaluate the answers critically. This is such a sacred matter that be kept on continuously, and be turned into a specific national characteristics of our people. Azerbaijan, a small and not so powerful land, needs this always, and today more than ever! As for my accomplishments here, I have being doing my very best since the day I arrived here. To summarize briefly my main deeds, within the last 9 months I have held variety of activities regarding Azerbaijan's introduction at 12 high schools and universities;  within the framework of the United Nations program, I have represented Azerbaijan successfully at two international conferences on special topics, held in Tokyo and Sendai cities; I have organized and given lectures to  a large number of participants at Nagoya and Nanzan Universities on "The Karabahk War and Its Consequences"; I have founded the Azerbaijan-Japan Friendship Association c
